Belva Walker Nielson, a loving, kind, and generous woman, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 6, 2023, in Cortez, CO, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 23, 1926, in Red Mesa, CO, Belva spent her life dedicated to her family and community.
Belva attended San Juan High School, where she excelled in her studies and made lifelong friendships.
Upon graduating, she married the love of her life and embarked on her most cherished role as a full-time mother to her five children.
It was in this role that Belva’s loving nature truly shone, as she nurtured and cared for her family with unwavering devotion.
As a devoted mother, Belva was actively involved in her children’s lives, attending school events, cheering them on at sporting events, and supporting their various extracurricular activities.
Her love and dedication extended beyond her immediate family, as she welcomed her children’s friends into her home with open arms, treating them as her own.
Belva’s generosity and kindness were not limited to her family, as she was an active member of the community.
She served as a volunteer at various local organizations, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Her warm smile and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure in the community, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Hans Joseph Nielson and daughter Patti Jo.
Services were held on May 15, 2023 in Blanding. Interment at the Blanding City Cemetery.
