Bruce Earl Stevens

September 24, 1933 ~ February 9, 2021

Bruce Earl Stevens passed away at sunrise on February 9, 2021, in Saratoga Springs, UT at the age of 87.

Bruce was born September 24, 1933, in Blanding, UT to Brigham Ezekiel and Afton Evangeline Johnston Stevens. Bruce was raised in Blanding, learning the value and reward of an honest day’s work.

Bruce married Glenna Lee Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 9, 1953. Bruce and Glenna raised their family of eight children in Mexican Hat, Blanding, and Kanab, UT, always within reach of the mountains, canyons, and red dirt.

The world has never known a kinder or harder-working man. Bruce spent every day either working for, or playing with, his family. Each of his children has countless memories of his teaching moments – lessons of safety, integrity, kindness, and consideration for others. Throughout his life, Bruce willingly served others through church callings, personal sacrifice, or just by being a loyal friend.

Bruce was an electrical engineer, and had a career spanning seven decades, ranging from fixing a table lamp to designing and installing entire mining operations. The knowledge he has taken with him can never be replaced.

Bruce is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna, in 2019; parents, Brig and Afton; brother, Lloyd; sisters, Jean Stewart and Volate Shumway; granddaughter, Ellen Stevens; and son-in-law, Melvin Knapton.

He is survived by his brothers, Ray and Lynn; his children, Earl (Marci), Calvin (Tina), Karolee (Tim) Jesser, Brucina Knapton, Karl (Sue), Susan (David) Hill, Glenda (Ryan) Wood, and Angela (Andrew) Werner; as well as 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the San Juan Mortuary in Blanding, Utah. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. with COVID-19 public health guidelines in place. Interment will be in the Blanding City Cemetery. Livestream of the funeral will be available at https://www.pictureitpalmer.com/funerals
