Carl Taylor, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Monticello, Utah, on June 13, 2026.
Carl Wayne Taylor was born on September 29, 1958, in Cortez, Colorado, to Keith and Alberta Taylor. He loved the outdoors and exploring the breathtaking scenery surrounding him. Carl was deeply connected to the land and places he called home. He was known for his intellect, humor, resilience, and the strength he brought to those around him.
As a young man, he ran cattle with his father, a tradition that reflected his enduring love of his dad and rural life. Their herd known by the circle and a half slash brand gave the men a well deserved sense of pride. While raising Becky in Monticello, Carl was a dedicated father. He tirelessly committed himself to his work at Rio Algom, UDOT, and the City of Monticello. His commitment and reliability left a lasting impression on those who knew and worked with him.
Carl married Sharon Hately on April 25, 2007, they were inseparable and spent the rest of his life enjoying time together. As managers of The Mokee Motel in Bluff, Utah, they had little time to engage in the hobbies they loved. All their shared experiences, and Sharon’s companionship were the most meaningful and significant parts of his life.
He is remembered for the relationships he built throughout his life and the lasting impact he had on family and friends. Whether through simple everyday moments or times of challenge, Carl’s character and spirit left a meaningful impression on those who knew him.
Carl is survived by his wife, Sharon Taylor; his daughter, Becky Taylor; his stepchildren, Dane Adam Hately and Misty and Ryan Gray; his grandson, Ryker Gray; and his siblings, Dorothy and Craig Leavitt, Edwin and Karen Taylor
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Alberta Taylor; and nephew, Travis Taylor.
Remaining forever in the hearts of those who truly knew him, the memories will be remembered with love. Conversation with Carl, and the way he used to laugh will be missed greatly.
 At Carl›s request, he has been cremated. A service will be held at a later date for the few people close to him
