Danielle Bailey Gomez

It has been a year since Danielle Bailey Gomez, daughter of Kristine Soltau Bailey (of Monticello, UT) and Monk Bailey (of Moab, UT) passed away at the home of her parents in Queen Creek AZ, May 13, 2014.
Danielle was born in Suffolk County, NY on January 26, 1969.
She suffered heroically from breast cancer. She had been diagnosed on July 2, 2010.
Danielle married Andrew Gomez of Turlock CA in August 2010 just six weeks after her diagnosis. They were sealed in the Newport Beach CA Temple.
Danielle had served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rome Italy from 1990-1991.
Danielle proceeds both her parents in death and her sisters Michell Shane (Mark) of Cody WY, Noel Houghton (Tim) of Aurora IL, Jenielle Bailey of Aurora IL and a brother Everett Bailey (Robin) of Mesa AZ, seven nieces, five nephews, one great-nephew and one great-niece.
Danielle is the great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Perkins of the Hole-in-the-Rock settlers, great-granddaughter of Stella Butts and John “Soapy” Perkins.
She graduated with a BA from Brigham Young University and from Hofstra University of Long Island NY with a Masters Degree in Speech Pathology.
Her specialty was working with autistic children. Danielle worked in Baltimore MD then she moved to Huntingon Beach CA where she met Andy in the mid-singles ward.
Danielle was always active in the church. After her mission, she returned to BYU where she taught in the Missionary Training Center. She served as Relief Society president in the singles ward in Plainview NY Stake. She taught Sunbeams in Primary and organized mid-singles conferences in California.
Her testimony and faith in Jesus Christ carried her through her struggle with the cancer she was battling.
