David Frank Fullmer

June 30, 1937 ~ March 9, 2019
On June 30, 1937, David Frank Fullmer was born to Frank and Elouise Fullmer in Salt Lake City, UT. He and his twin sister, Donna, were the second set of twins born in his family that would eventually grow to 10 children.
David “kicked his bucket” and passed away in his home in Monticello, UT at the age of 81 on March 9, 2019.
David moved to Monticello when he was almost six years old. Most of his childhood and teenage years were spent working on the farm and doing chores like milking the cows and feeding the animals. He learned the value of hard work from a young age. David graduated from Monticello High School in 1956.
In 1958, David was called as a missionary to serve in the Samoan Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He learned the Maori language and loved serving on several of the Cook Islands for almost three years.
After returning from his mission, David married LaRae Sherrill in 1963 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were married for 53 years before LaRae passed away. They raised five children and made their home in Monticello, where they lived for the rest of their lives.
David spent 20 years selling cars at Redd’s Motors. For 10 of those years he worked as a cars salesman and farmer at the same time.
Finally he was able to dedicate all of his time working at the farm, which he truly loved. He worked hard to carry on the work his father taught him to build a large, successful farm. He harvested wheat, safflower, and oats to provide for his family.  In 2012 he was awarded San Juan County Farmer of the Year.
After retiring, David put his farming passion into his garden. He may be best known by friends and neighbors for growing the sweetest corn around.
He and LaRae spent 13 years serving weekly in the Monticello Temple. It became a very important part of his life. His endurance through life and his testimony of Jesus Christ will be an example cherished by those who truly knew him.
David was a man of great character. He loved to cheer people with his funny faces and make people laugh with a silly repeated joke or funny saying. He was a great friend to so many. To know him was to love him.
David loved his family and mostly loved being a grandpa; he created lasting relationships and memories with his grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Fullmer and Elouise Ord Fullmer Ward, LaRae Sherrill Fullmer, and other cherished family members and friends.
He is survived by five children, Shon (Amy), Brett (Jennifer), Kyle, Sherrill (Bryan), and Franki (Ian); 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
