Diane Cooper

May 19, 1939 ~ August 28, 2008

Diane Cooper was born May 19, 1939 in Moab, UT and died August 28, 2008 in Coeur D’Alene, ID. A graveside was held September 6, 2008 at the Monticello Cemetery in her honor. She had been living in Idaho for the last five years because of poor health.

Her parents, Joseph Wallace and Cleone Bronson Cooper, preceded her in death.

In December, 1956, she married Richard Prestis of Castle Gate, UT. They moved to Mesa, AZ soon after they were married. Diane completed her high school education, then returned to Monticello for her high school graduation. Richard attended Arizona State University. They have two sons.

A great deal of Diane’s life was spent in Arizona. She and Richard moved to Scottsdale with their two boys. When her life changed, she moved to Camp Verde, AZ and her boys grew up in that area.

She attended football games, spent time on the lakes and worked in the movie industry. It was during the late 1970’s that the call of the Blue Mountain and red rock canyons was too strong to ignore and she came home. She would never have gone to Idaho if her health had been more stable.

Her oldest son, Daniel Joseph Prestis, lives in Coeur D’Alene with his wife. Danny met Genny while he was in Camp Verde.

The Nuanez family was one of the oldest families in the Sedona area and Danny had to spend a lot of time convincing her father and Genny that it was time she got married. They have two children. Erica is going to the University of Montana and Kyle graduated this spring from high school.

Damon Robert Prestis is her youngest son. He still lives in Camp Verde. He is attached to the Verde Valley as much as Diane was to the mountains and the canyons. He has one daughter, Ashley, who will graduate from Arizona State University this spring and lives in Chandler, AZ.
