Donna Nazer Marian

June 26, 1921 ~ May 29, 2013
Donna Nazer Marian, 91, was born June 26, 1921 in Cowley WY, the fourth child of Orson Albert and Rebecca Phillips Nazer.
She enjoyed many years living on the family farm in Aberdeen ID; going to school and working in St. George UT; and living in Boulder City NV, Duchesne UT, and Blanding UT.
Donna married George Marian Jr. on December 1, 1941, just one week before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on April 21, 1954.
While Donna and George lived in Boulder City, they added two children—Dianna and Duane—to their family; and later, when they moved to Blanding, they added David and Donna (Nonie).
She willingly served in her church callings, as MIA President twice, in various positions in the Relief Society, as a stake missionary in Bluff UT, and as Primary secretary. After George retired, the two served a couple’s mission in Decatur IL.
Donna had several work experiences that she enjoyed. In Duchesne, she worked as a secretary for the Duchesne County School District. In Blanding, she worked for Dr. Fallon and for First Security Bank. And when her sister, Shirley, set up the Look Dress Shop, Donna worked with her. She particularly enjoyed going to market in Salt Lake City with Shirley to buy new stock for the shop.
Donna had great fun in her “younger” life with dad and their square-dancing buddies and with her friends at their Sunday evening “Cottage Meetings,” but she felt most at home with her brothers and sisters.
When they were young, they formed a bond that has spanned their lifetimes. No one had more fun playing progressive rummy (with loads of chocolate nearby) than these sibs did.
Donna is survived by two daughters — Dianna (Hal) Black and Nonie (Efrain) Romero — and one son — Duane (Gayle) Marian; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, son David, grandchildren AnJeanette and Carlyn; brothers Dolph and Glen, sisters Cassie and Mary Ann; and by brothers-in-law Leonard Lonczyna and Merwin Shumway.
Interment at the Blanding Cemetery.
Card of thanks
We thank Donna’s sisters and their families for their love and for the many hours spent visiting with her and watching over her. We also extend thanks to Dr. Jones and to the staff at Blue Mountain Hospital who tended her with great understanding. We know she appreciated every small act of kindness.
