Ed Barton, age 84, passed away peacefully in his home on April 23, 2024.
Edson King Barton was born in Monticello, UT on September 11, 1939, the son of Lloyd Lional Barton and Willamelia Frost Barton.
Ed was raised on the family farm and flour mill in Monticello, where he learned how to work hard.
At age 19, he joined the US Army and served honorably for two years.
He married his sweetheart Ellen Ann Allen on September 2, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity.
They have five children: Audrey (Kelly) Nielsen, Annette (Spencer) Mortensen, Rebecca Barton (deceased), Edson King II (Nikki) Barton, and Lewis Lloyd (Amber) Barton. Their posterity totals 52.
Ed is a wonderful husband, father, and friend to many. He is known for his spontaneity, compassion, enthusiasm, and big dreams - he made everyone feel at home and he freely gave what he had to others.
Most of all, he Ann and their family with all his heart. He served faithfully as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
His later years were painful, but he endured them well and remained positive. He was a light to everyone who knew him and continued to make people feel good and laugh even in his final days.
We love him and are grateful he can be reunited with his parents, siblings, and especially his daughter, Becky who died at age 13 and his grandson, McKay Mortensen who died at age 18.
