Ellis Vione Tinsley

Ellis Vione Tinsley passed away at home in Vernal, UT on April 4, 2013, surrounded by family. Funeral Services were held at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and she was buried in Kooskia, ID.
Ellis was born May 12, 1924 in Monticello, UT to John David Palmer and Emma Stevens Palmer.
She married Danny Sterling in April 1944 and to that union was born three children, Danalee, Sharlene, and Lawrence. They later divorced.
She married Donald Dean Tinsley in 1957 and to that union was born three more children, Frances, Shauna, and Dewayne. They also later divorced.
Ellis dropped out of school in the sixth grade to help her mother homestead land at Dodge Point. She came to love it dearly from all her years spent homesteading and later helping her parents build a home.
They built barns, chicken coops, a pigpens, and planted and cared for a garden and fruit trees. She later built her own cabin at “the Ranch” and dreamed of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren enjoying it as she had.
She loved to garden and had a green thumb to be jealous of. She made many coveted apple pies for family, friends, and neighbors.
She was a hard worker, but often time you would find her dancing in the kitchen. She loved the gospel and had a testimony. She received her temple endowment in 1990.
Ellis resided in Blanding for many years before she went to live with her daughter, Francis, and her husband, Harvey.
She lived with them for five years in Bloomfield, NM. They then moved to Challis, ID for three years where her son, Lawrence, also lived. They moved to Vernal, UT in February 2013.
She is survived by her children Dana (Keith) Keyser, Kooskia, ID, Sharlene (Isaac) Vigil, Dodge Point, UT, and a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sibling, and son, Dewayne. Ellis will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
