Emma Mae (Effie) Brockmeier

May 22, 1924 ~ March 9, 2019
Emma Mae (Effie) Esplin Brockmeier, 94, of Blanding, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 9, 2019.
She was born May 22, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT.  She was raised in Cedar City, UT, graduating from Cedar High School.
She married Thomas Wesley Brockmeier of Springville, UT in 1947.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their children, Thomas Henry and Bonnie Mae, were born in Cedar City.
Effie worked for the accounting firm of Southwick and Whitton as a bookkeeper in Cedar until the spring of 1960 when she and Tom, a pharmacist, purchased the Pay Day Drug in Blanding, UT.
The family, along with Emma Esplin, Effie’s mother, soon made many lasting friendships with the people in San Juan County 
In November of 1965, her beloved husband and their son Tommy died in an airplane accident near Payson, AZ.
Effie sold the pharmacy to Kirk Nielson the following spring. 
She went to work at Parley Redd mercantile as their accountant, working for the Redds for 51 years.
Effie finally retired when she was 92, having worked 74 years of her adult life.
Effie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 
She was a humble and loving person who touched the hearts of all who met her.  We will miss her so very much.
She is preceded in death by parents Emma Streuli Esplin and Homer Esplin, husband Tom Brockmeier, son Tommy Brockmeier, sister Virginia Fullmer, brother William Esplin, and great-granddaughter Ella Mae Hicks.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Truitt Lee Purcell; grandchildren Tom Purcell (Sarah), Jennifer Nielson (Tyler), and Cassie Hicks (Brandon), and eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Blanding Stake Center. See San Juan Mortuary website for visitation times.
