Francell Redd Blickenstaff

November 1, 1922 ~ November 11, 2010
Francell Redd Blickenstaff was born November 1, 1922, daughter of Lemuel Burton and Cynthia Irene Hatch Redd. She returned to her heavenly parents on November 11, 2010.
She lived in Blanding, UT, her entire life. She married Eugene Blickenstaff on October 21, 1940, in the Manti Temple. He passed away March 27, 1996.
They are the parents of eight children: Cathie (Mick) Miller, of American Fork, UT; Scott (Debra), of Logan, UT; Mary (Michael) Mark, of Chicago, IL; John (Jennifer), of Heber City, UT; Denise (Jeff) Frost, of Monticello, UT; Kürt (Catherine), of Camarillo, CA; Mike (Kristy, of Lindon, UT; and Todd (Echo), of Henderson, NV.
Francell spent her life serving others. She was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully attended the temple. She served a mission with her husband in Puerto Rico in 1984-5. She knew and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She always told her children “Everything will be all right,” and they knew if she was praying for them, it would be. Mama was not one to sit and wring her hands. Her mantra was: “Do something, even if it’s wrong!”
Francell was a wonderful cook. Her family especially enjoyed her pies and honey candy. She liked to do handwork and loved all things beautiful, especially flowers, autumn leaves, and rides on the mountain. She knew how to have a good time. One of the last things she said was “I don’t want to leave; I’ve had so much fun.”
Mom knew no strangers, and made friends wherever she went. She had a gift for listening and making others feel loved. Her children and grandchildren adored her. She was an exceptional and beloved mother, and left a great legacy of faith and courage.
Francell is survived by her children, 37 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, sister Jewell (Lisle) Adams, brother Lloyd (Shirley) Redd, sister-in-law Helen Redd, and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers Burton, Keith, Kermit and John DeMar and granddaughter Courtney Blickenstaff.
The Blickenstaff family would like to express their gratitude for the tender care given by Dr. Curtis Black, the late Dr. Jim Redd, the staff at the San Juan Hospital and Jeroldene Bailey. We also appreciate the assistance given by Danny Palmer and the San Juan Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010, at noon in the Blanding North LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9 to 11 a.m. at the San Juan Mortuary.
“I cannot picture earth
Without my mother’s face;
Yet I know her presence there
Makes heaven a better place.”
