Garrett T. Holly: Man for all Seasons

The San Juan County Utah Democratic Party wants to honor the life of Garrett Thomas Holly and thank him for his service.
He was a proud resident of San Juan County most of his life and took pleasure in working to protect its renowned natural beauty, and represent all people in its communities.
He was born in Shiprock, NM and lived in Montezuma Creek, attending Aneth Community School. He became a Para-Educator and Independent Healthcare Consultant, with a 18-year career working with non-profit healthcare organizations and for-profit companies.
He worked as a Certified Medical Coder, Account Receivables Manager, Business Office Manager, and eventually Business Office Director, and as a member of the Administration group of Utah Navajo Health Systems, Inc.
In 2022, Garrett was the Democratic candidate for San Juan County Clerk with an objective of representing all the people of San Juan County, especially their voting rights.
As Chairman of the San Juan County Democratic Party from 2023-2024, he worked hard to accomplish their mission to “support strategies, opportunities, and access for all San Juan County residents to the rights and resources of rural Utah life and encouraging the protection of public lands for generations to come.”
He was also Vice-Chair of the Utah Democratic Party Native American Caucus for two years.
Garrett enjoyed living in San Juan County and elsewhere in the states. He particularly delighted in traveling in the US and in other countries where he met extraordinary people who shaped his values of integrity, courage, and impartiality.
His heritage and traditions were part of his values and culture - a part of being Navajo/Diné. He believed in graciousness, self-belief, self-identity, and self-respect, along with peace and harmony of mind, and was taught to honor, respect, and thank Earth, Nature, and the Universe.
He was an old soul, a phenomenal advocate for his Native Communities, with a bubbly personality and endless smiles and silly jokes.
Thank you for your life of service Garrett. We will miss you and may you Rest in Peace.
