Gary Wayne Harlan

May 2, 1939 ~ November 6, 2020

Gary Wayne Harlan, 81 of Monticello, UT, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2020 after a battle with leukemia.

The youngest of five children, Gary was born on May 2, 1939 in Grand Junction, CO to Westley J and wife Letha Barnhart Harlan.

Gary worked much of his life as a truck driver. He hauled gasoline for Black Oil for many years. He also hauled uranium back in the day, not knowing how that would affect him years later.

Gary loved fishing and boating in Lake Powell, being in the mountains camping, four-wheeling, and looked forward to hunting every year with his son Randy. He also enjoyed early mornings down at the local 7-Eleven meeting with friends for coffee.

Gary is survived by his daughter Debbie Pankey and husband Jerry of Montrose, CO; son Randy Harlan and wife Karla of Silt, CO; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his good friend Leroy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gale and Westley Harlan, sisters LaFaye Stuller and Charlene Dunn, grandsons Dyllon and Kole Harlan, and great-grandson Brodie Tiffany.

The family would like to thank his nurse Jacqueline, who was very special to him (Thanks JJ; we love you.) and all the doctors and nurses that cared for him at San Juan Hospital in Monticello.

Cremation has occurred, and at Gary’s request, no services will be held.
