GEORGE HUGH BARRY

September 17, 1923 ~ March 29, 2008

George Hugh Barry passed from this earth on March 29, 2008. George was born in Caldwell, Idaho on September 17, 1923.

He and his family moved to Horsehead Point, Utah in 1930, where they homesteaded. At the age of 16, George held his first job, working as a cowboy at the Indian Creek Ranch.

In 1942, he was drafted into the military and served three years in the Navy during World War II.

In 1952, he married Lorraine Priddy. Four children were born to this union; Sue (Mike) Fisher of Denver, Colorado; Steve (Dana) Barry of Glencoe, Minnesota; Kathy (Craig) Simpson of Blanding, Utah; and Eddie (Teresa) Barry of Monticello, Utah.

George retired as foreman of the San Juan County Road Department with more than 30 years of service. He loved living in this area and worked hard to make a good life for himself and his family.

It seemed only natural then, that his lifelong passion to the land resulted in farming and ranching.

He is survived by his four children, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother James of Monticello, Utah, and sister Ella Shupe of Moab, Utah.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob, and his wife, Lorraine.

Funeral services will be held in Eastland at the LDS Church on Friday at 2 p.m., with burial following at the Mountain View cemetery in Eastland.
