Guy Charles Tracy November 22, 1940 ~ August 6, 2024
On August 6, 2024, Guy Charles Tracy passed away peacefully at his home in Monticello, UT at the age of 83. He was born in Manassa, CO on November 22, 1940.
Guy was a graduate of Dolores County High School, after which he honorably served two years in the United States Army.
Guy was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in his callings. His work was diverse and grounded in the trades of drilling, operating heavy machinery, ranching and haying.
He put up hay all summer and fed his cows all winter for over 50 years. For Guy, work was not just work but a passion and joy he shared with his family.
Guy and Virginia Dalton were sealed on March 27, 1970 in the Salt Lake City Temple. After which he worked for his father-in-law, Max Dalton on the Wagon Rod Ranch.
Guy spent his days working with cows, cowboys and all equipment. He was a skilled worker in every aspect of ranching. He enjoyed the cows, horses, irrigating and haying.
He was an example of patience and hard work. Guy was a great neighbor to all and was known for his level-headed attitude. Guy and Ginger bought Wagon Rod Ranch in the 1980s and continued its legacy.
To Guy, a treat was a Coca Cola, Lays potato chips, and vanilla ice cream with a slice of bread. He loved driving tractors and trucks, Cat dozer, and any heavy machinery.
A few good jokes from Ray Stevens, Jerry Clower, and Paul Harvey never failed to put a smile on his face. Above all, Guy loved spending time with his family, especially with his loving wife and children.
He shared his love of life with his children and grandchildren. It was always a treat to be able to ride with Dad or Grandpa to the Ranch. He always had a good story and a Coke to share. He was a great example of being loving, gentle, easy to talk to, and a great listener.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charley Harvey Tracy and Inez Jackson Tracy, as well as his younger brother Allan Tracy, and brothers-in-law Steven Oldham, Boyd Rassmussen, Yancy Dalton and Jack Brewer.
Guy’s legacy is carried forward by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Virginia Dalton Tracy, their five children Charley Max (Kim) Tracy, Kelly Tracy, Melvin Chad (Crystal) Tracy, Lucy Tracy, and Chesley Jackson (Jacque) Tracy, along with his 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who all brought much joy to his life.
Also survived by his siblings Carol Tracy Brewer, Jerold Pat (Gail) Tracy, Luanne Tracy Oldham, Kathy Tracy (Ken) Anderson, brothers in law Jimmie (Carol) Forrest, Monte (Deana) Dalton, and sisters in law Georgia Rasmussen, Diana Dalton, and Diane Tracy. The family also includes numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at the Monticello North Chapel on August 14 from 9 to
10:30 a.m. followed by his funeral at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Verdure Cemetery.
