James Bryan Harvey

January 16, 1935 ~ March 19, 2020
James Bryan Harvey, 85, passed away March 19, 2020 at Whisper Cove Assisted Living Center in Kaysville, UT of causes due to Alzheimer’s dementia.
He was born January 16, 1935 at Lockerby (Eastland), UT to Julius N. and Louise Elvira Johnson Harvey, the third of ten children.
James was a life-long resident of San Juan County, growing up and attending schools in the Eastland area and Monticello.
He married Irene Joyce Peterson on June 4, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the parents of five children, Cynthia (James) Muhlestein, Bryan Cameron (Kathy) Harvey, Tamara (Tom) Dover, Lance Franklin (Donya) Harvey, and Richard Lawrence (Patti) Harvey.
He loved each and every one of 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 
James was a farmer for the majority of his adult life, supplementing this occupation with a variety of other jobs, mostly mining.
He was honored in 1973 by the Farmers Home Administration as the FHA Farm Family of the Year for the San Juan-Grand Area and by the Soil Conservation District in July 1978 as the Farmer of the Month.
He served on the San Juan Water Conservancy Board from 1980 to 1994, during which time the Recapture Reservoir and Loyds Lake projects were planned and completed. 
He served faithfully in many church callings over the years, including Eastland Branch President. He and Joyce were ordinance workers at the Monticello Temple for four and a half years.
In his own quiet way, he was ever the epitome of diligence in his responsibilities and kindness to all.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jay N. Harvey; and two sisters, Mary Brown and Sharon Riley.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children and their spouses; one brother, Mel Harvey; five sisters, Jacqueline Fuller, Bessie Howe, Verdell Call, Sandra Bacon, and Lynne Robinson; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 
Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Mountain View Cemetery in Eastland.
