Johnny Dufur

August 28, 1944 ~ August 20, 2015
Johnny Dufur was born to John Delbert and Freida Ryder Dufur on August 28, 1944.
Johnny dabbled in many adventures in life. His first love of life was being a jockey and racing horses for different owners.
It was during this time he met the love of his life, Karen Dufur. They were married on October 7, 1966.
Johnny was an avid aviation enthusiast. He drove ore trucks for several years. He mined with his best friend, Tom Vowell, for a few years.
He gathered artifacts from Old Mexico and sold them to people loving original and authentic artifacts.
From 1992 to 2007, he joined partners with Kirk Helquist to sell petroleum products at Sierra Petroleum in Monticello, UT.
There were many different things Johnny enjoyed doing, which included spending time with his wife, his animals, and his extended family; going for rides with his dog, Sassy, and his good friend, Berry Brewer.
He loved his nieces and nephews and was so good to them, and they loved him.
Johnny was so kind and good to the less fortunate and helped them out in any way he could.
During the past couple of years, he took such good care of his wife, Karen, while she was struggling with poor health issues.
Johnny became ill two weeks ago due to a bad infection. The doctors tried everything medically possible to reverse the effects, but they were unsuccessful.
Johnny passed away around 5:44 a.m. on August 20, 2015 at the University of Utah Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Karen Dufur, step-mother Betty Dufur, sisters Patty Dufur Black, Rita Dufur, Cindy LaCorti, Etta Shumway, Lorraine Smith; and brother Ronny Dufur.
