Joseph Michael “Mike” Adams

July 30, 1951 ~ December 17, 2014
Joseph Michael “Mike” Adams, 63, of Salt Lake City, UT returned to his Heavenly Father on December 17, 2014. Mike was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His genuine kindness and generosity were a blessing to all who knew him.
Mike was born on July 30, 1951 in Monticello, UT, the second child of Lynn and Reta Adams. Mike grew up in Monticello, where he excelled at football, basketball, golf, track, and every other sport he tried.
Mike was captain of the Monticello High School football team and enjoyed Regional and State honors. He set many athletic records, including a record-setting 100-yard dash in the Moab Invitational Track Meet, at ten seconds flat.
The town of Monticello was very proud of Mike Adams, as these newspaper quotes demonstrate: “Mike has brought the crowd to their feet many times with his dazzling runs,” and “Mike was a threat any time he got his hands on the ball.”
Mike graduated from Monticello High School and went on to play football for Utah State University, on scholarship. Mike furthered his education with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration.
He had a successful 30-year career as a real estate appraiser in Orem, UT and also as an investor, business owner, farmer and developer.
Mike loved the area of his youth and came back to visit San Juan County often. In recent years he traveled to Hawaii and Europe.
Mike was preceded in death by his loving mother, Reta.
He is survived by his father, Lynn Adams; siblings and spouses Bruce (Kristine) Adams and Amber (Ned) Holt; children JJ (Shanna), Chad, and Rachel (Michael Deol); and his grandchildren Archer, Savanna, Gabriel, and Ella.
He was dearly loved, and he will be greatly missed by many.
