Karolyn Kimmerle Black February 26, 1944 ~ December 26, 2025

Karolyn Kimmerle Black was born the first in a set of twins on February 26, 1944 to Howard Jean and Myrna Nielsen Kimmerle in Santa Monica, CA.
She passed on December 26, 2025 in St. George, UT surrounded by her courageous and loving family.
The two little girls, Karolyn and Kathleen, were best friends for nine months and 82 years. The adventures of a lifetime, as told by Kathleen, began in Cisco, UT probably at the age of 5. 
My memories begin playing on the muddy banks of the Colorado River watching daddy catch bullfrogs for dinner. There were many experiences that included snakes, rabbits, and our love for horses began in Cisco.  
Shenanigans continued when the twins set out and wandered about Blanding, UT gathering any items that built “rabbit town”. Over time our rabbit town population increased rapidly. 
Daddy said he would “take care of the bucks”.  In desperation my sister and I released all of the adult rabbits. 
If we weren’t sitting in school, we were riding our horses knight and peanuts. There wasn’t any area around Blanding that we hadn’t explored or any cow ponds that we and our horses didn’t swim in. 
More importantly than her childhood adventures, Karolyn and Fred’s home served as a refuge for all of her family members including her twin, her brothers, her in laws and her many nieces and nephews. 
Karolyn’s life was a sterling example of love and service to those around her. She is dearly missed by those fortunate enough to know her.  
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Fred J Black, her children Kristin (Jim) McCoy, Andrew (Mayet), David (Brooke), Charles (Meg) and eight grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. 
She is also survived by her twin sister Kathleen (Kirk), brothers David (Nancy), Charles (Diane), and 13 nieces and nephews.  
She is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Myrna and older brother Michael. 
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
