Kathryn (Kay) Estelle Nielson Wilson April 4, 1943 ~ August 12, 2025

Kathryn (Kay) Estelle Nielson Wilson was born April 4,1943 in Moab, UT.
Kathryn was the fourth of nine children born to Milton and Estella Nielson.  She grew up in Monticello, UT in a lively home full of laughter, music, and the everyday chaos of a big family. She passed away August 12, 2025, in Bella Vista, AR.
Kathryn loved music, card games, time with her family, and cheering for the Atlanta Braves.
She cherished gathering those she loved, her children, siblings and their families, at the family home on Circle Drive. Often during the summer, the door was left open for friends and family to stop by for a visit.
Even in her final days her mind was focused on being with those she loved and she was often heard saying, “Now let’s see...” as she cooked up another plan to get everyone together.
She was a wonderful cook and her favorite recipes live on in the kitchens of her children.
She spent her career working for the BLM in Monticello where she ran the river permit program. There she made many lifelong friends and memories.
She married Gary Wilson in 1961, and together they had four children: Corry (Marianne), Christine, Ashley (Geoff), and Amber. Though they divorced they remained good friends and eventually neighbors until Gary’s passing in 2012.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Stephen, Bill, Howard and Paul, sister Christine, son Corry, and daughter-in-law Marianne.
She is survived by brothers Keith (Jerri) and Mark (Pam), three daughters, nine grandchildren (two of whom are married), and two great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Kathryn leaves a legacy of humor, spunk, and a stubborn streak which her children and grandchildren have all inherited.
She will be dearly missed, but we find peace in knowing she is reunited with so many loved ones who went before her.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18 at the Monticello Cemetery.
