Kelvin Redd Curtis

Kelvin Redd Curtis, age 25, returned to his heavenly home on December 16, 2015.
He died while canyoneering with friends in Boltergeist Canyon near St. George, UT.
Kelvin was born April 12, 1990 in Monticello UT, the fifth son and sixth child to Paul and Carolee Curtis.
He attended school at Monticello Elementary and graduated from Monticello High School in 2008. During his high school years, he enjoyed playing football and running track.
Kelvin served a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New York, New York City South Mission, where he learned to love and serve the people there.
Upon returning home, Kelvin attended Snow College and then Dixie State University in St. George, UT, where he was currently residing.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and had recently been accepted into dental school. He planned to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry.
In pursuit of his career, he traveled to Nicaragua on a service trip providing dental care to the people there.
Kelvin embraced adventures of all types; climbing, hiking, fishing, and canyoneering, in particular with his dear friend, George Barlow.
His adventures took him to Central America visiting many countries this summer.
He also enjoyed working for, and dressing up for, various racing events in St. George.
For several summers, Kelvin returned home to work with the Forest Service on the timber crew. He loved both the crew and the constant access to a chainsaw.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was a loving son and called his parents on a weekly basis.
Kelvin will be remembered for his goofy personality, quiet confidence, willingness to help others, love and kindness to those around him, and his humble and stalwart spirit.
A very special thanks to the Washington County Search and Rescue, along with all of the outpouring of love and support from friends and family near and far.
He is survived in death by his grandmother, Renee Curtis of Perry, UT; parents Paul and Carolee of Monticello, UT; siblings Clint (Tonya) of Moab, UT; Cody of Midvale, UT; Kyle (Anna) of Monticello, UT; Kristalee (Adam) Shumway of Blanding, UT; Kedric (Kristine) of Logan, UT; as well as eight nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Garth Curtis, and his grandparents, Wyman and Mary Lou Redd.
Funeral services were held December 22, 2015 at the Monticello LDS North Chapel, with interment in Monticello City Cemetery.
