Kena Lee Christensen

February 7, 1957 ~ May 22, 2019
Kena Lee Christensen passed away May 22, 2019 in Monticello, UT. Kena was born February 7, 1957 in Monticello, UT to Kenneth and Maxine Christensen.
She is survived by her mother, Maxine; her sissy, Nancy (Gary) Dunow; brother, Mike (Callie); and nieces and nephews.
Her dad, Kenneth, preceeded her in death in 2016.
Kena was born handicapped, so she had many challenges in her life. She wasn’t able to attend school as it wasn’t offered for her many needs.
Kena moved to American Fork at the approximate age of 10. While there she moved to different care centers in Provo, Orem, and Moab.
She made many friends and could remember their names. She loved her cargivers, who she became very close to.
Kena was able to come to her home in Monticello often, as that is where her family was. She loved coming home but was also happy to go back to her other home where her friends were.
Kena became ill in 2017 and was in and out of hospitals. In March 2019, she came home to be with her family for the end of her life. She lived with her mother, Sissy, and Gary until she passed away in her sleep.
A family service was held for Kena on May 24, 2019 with burial in Monticello.
Heaven’s Very Special Child
A meeting was held quite far from Earth.
“It’s time again for
another birth,”
Said the angels to the Lord above.
“This special child will need much love
Her progress may seem quite slow
Accomplishments she may not show
And she will require
extra care
From the folks she meets way down there.
She may not run or
laugh or play.
Her thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways she
won’t adapt.
And she’ll be known as handicapped.
So let’s be careful for where she’s sent.
We want her life to
be content.
Please, Lord, find her
parents who
Will do a special job
for you.
They will not realize
right away
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift
from Heaven.
Their precious charge,
so meek and mild
Is Heaven’s very
special child.
