Kenneth J Nielson March 5, 1960 ~ February 12, 2024

Kenneth J Nielson was born on March 5, 1960 in Ogden, Utah.  He was the son of Kirk and Maxine Nielson.  After moves to Texas and Idaho, his family came to Blanding, Utah in 1966 when they purchased the Pay Day Drug, (now San Juan Pharmacy}.  He graduated from San Juan High School in 1978 where he found many good friends who think of him still with great fondness.  After graduating he served an LDS mission to Columbia. He followed in the footsteps of his dad and two older brothers and became a pharmacist. Kenny worked in a  Las Vegas pharmacy and also at the (then) family-owned pharmacy in Monticello, Utah.   He married Nita Pierce on September 9, 1989.  Nita had 2 children—Jessica and Ryan (Bubba). He and Nita had 1 son, Tyler.   With great sorrow the family buried Bubba in 1994. in 2003 he married Sandy Kenny who had one  son, Brighton.  Kenny had a special love for his kids.  He also found much joy in his cherished pets, especially Levi, and had a tender heart for all animals.  Kenny’s path took him away from this area and from his family, but he was always dearly loved and missed.  He died in Salt Lake City on February 12, 2024.  He is survived by his son: Tyler Nielson; his siblings:  Dana (Marian), Lee (Randee), Jean Bayles (Lyman), Susanne Johnson (David), Lyle (Leslie) and Dori Eubanks (Sam); dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins, and his Aunt Sally Conrad.  Family and friends from where he lived and worked will always remember the kind, generous, and good soul that he was.
If you would like to honor your memory of Kenny, we suggest that you do so by making a contribution to Best Friends, a Utah-based animal protection organization and sanctuary.  You can do this online at bestfriends.org or give to any of his siblings and we will make sure it gets there.
If you would like to share a memory or story of Kenny with his family, it would be greatly appreciated.  You could email these thoughts to Dana Nielson at dananielson1@gmail.com.
