Lynel Ochoa (Lyman) January 21, 1957 ~ January 18, 2026

Lynel Ochoa, 68, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Murray, UT, just days before her 69th birthday. Born in Monticello, UT, on January 21, 1957, she was raised in Blanding and Sandy, UT, forging deep roots and lifelong friendships in both communities.
Lynel married Randy Fitzgerald on August 30, 1974. Together, they raised three boys: Josh, Jeff, and Chad. Randy passed away in 2013. Later that year, Lynel’s life took a new turn when her son Jeff and Robert’s son Cortney set her up on a date with Robert Ochoa because they wanted to become brothers. Lynel and Robert quickly found a deep, lasting love, and just six weeks after their first date, they were married on December 9, 2013, beginning a joyful new chapter together.
Lynel cherished every opportunity to create memories with those she loved. She was especially happy traveling and fishing with her husband Bob, and sharing her time and love with her children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family, nurturing each person with a love that recognized their differences and made everyone feel truly special.
Lynel’s faith and devotion shaped her life. She served in many church callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Primary President, Stake Young Women’s Camp Director, and numerous other roles, touching countless lives with her kindness, strength, and compassion.
She spent over three decades in property management as Vice President at Thompson Michie Associates. Through her work and her generous spirit, she built lasting relationships and left a meaningful impact on so many who loved and admired her.
Lynel is survived by her husband Robert Ochoa, father Raymond Lyman, mother Patricia Lyman, children Josh (Chelsea) Fitzgerald, Jeff (Christy) Fitzgerald, Chad (Karli) Fitzgerald, Cortney (Katie) Ochoa, Dave (Kaitey) Ochoa, Alex (Lydia) Ochoa, and Dustin (Sandra) Ochoa, 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and siblings Kyle Lyman, LaDawn Peterson, Leonard Lyman, and Mason Lyman.
A celebration of life will be held on January 31, 2026, at noon at the Blanding LDS Stake Center, 88 West 800 North in Blanding. All who knew Lynel are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
Lynel had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of the Restoration of Christ’s Church through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Her faith, love, and example will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
