Mary Frances Montaño

November 26, 1932 ~ February 15, 2021

Frances was born November 26, 1932 in Tiffany, CO the daughter of Frank and Maria Carolina (Samora) Hancock. She passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 88.

Surviving Frances are her children, Peter A. Montaño (Laurie) of Cortez, CO; Peggy E. Montaño (Thomas Cochran) of Durango, CO; Lillian Bayles (Randee) of Blanding, UT; Shirley M. Rocha (Noe’) of Hutto, TX; and Sylvia A. Trujillo (Wesley) of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and by her sisters, Florence Florez of Blanco, NM and Mary Ellen Little of Mesquite, NV.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete E. Montaño; her son, Timothy Montaño; and by her siblings, Charles Hancock, Billy Hancock, Manuel Samora, Lila Saiz, Ray Lucero, Felix Lucero, and Raymond Lucero.

Visitation took place on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. The Rosary was recited at the funeral home.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, and Frances was laid to rest next to her husband at Cortez Cemetery.

A memorial service is planned for the summer when hopefully more of her large family can get together.
