Matthew Dwayne Benson August 19, 2022 ~ February 21, 2024

Matthew Dwayne Benson, born August 19, 2022 to Colton and Elida Benson. Matthew was named after his late uncle Matthew Richard Benson, and his grandfather, Scott Dwayne Benson.
Matthew is loved deeply by family and friends. He was a very strong and brave little boy who loved to be outside taking walks, sitting in the grass or playing in the water with Mom, digging in the dirt with his brother, or riding in the tractor or skidsteer with Dad.
He loved the farm animals, especially the chickens, ,cows and his favorite dog Boone, soaking in the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Matthew was very observant and studious.
He learned quickly how to copy other people’s actions and seemed to have an understanding of things that exceeded his tender age.
Matthew’s unique personality was one of determination, he had his father’s passion for the outdoors, and his mother’s sweet spirit.
Even in the face of sickness, and in spite of the physical challenges he faced, he always managed to smile, share sweet conversation, dance along with a song, blow kisses, and would always look forward to making his mom a cup of coffee.
Matthew was taken home peacefully by our Lord Jesus on February 21st, 2024. He is survived by his parents, Colton and Elida Benson, and his brother Bradley of Montrose SD, Grandparents Scott and Wendy Benson of Montrose SD, and Grandfather Lowell Bradley of Alta, California.
It is with a grateful heart that Colton, Eli, and their family, thank the thoughtful and generous friends, family, and community that have carried them through this very difficult time.
The love, support, and prayers you gave them during Little Matthew’s journey is appreciated beyond words. Thank you to Matthew’s team of doctors, nurses, and staff at Sanford’s Children’s Hospital, whom many became Matthew’s special friends. Matthew’s family has been surrounded by people who are truly the hands and feet of God, and they thank you from the bottom of their hearts.
May God bless and keep you!
