Michael Bernard Des Rosiers January 6, 1956 ~ January 8, 2024
Michael Bernard des Rosiers, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 8, 2024 at the age of 68.
He was born on January 6, 1956 in Tampa, FL.
His parents are Barbara Collins and Daniel Shoemaker Jr.
Mike and his siblings Pete, Duane, and Cyndi spent their early years in Tampa, FL.
They also lived in Colorado and California, where Mike graduated from high school in Huntington Beach in 1974.
Mike served in the New York New York Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in New York City and upstate New York.
In the meantime, Mike’s parents and siblings moved to Monticello, UT.
Mike married Debra Rogers in 1978. They had four children: Christopher, Rebecca, Amanda and Patricia. They later divorced.
In 1992, Mike married Bonnie Ansley, and Heather joined the family. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1993.
Mike and Bonnie moved to Monticello in 1993 and had two children together, Daniel and Michael Connor.
Mike worked as a cadastral mapper for San Juan County for approximately 25 years.
Mike was a man who always wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved with genuine sincerity.
He was a phenomenal artist and his dream after retirement was to do artwork fulltime. He loved everything artistic, natural or otherwise.
Mike loved Hawaiian shirts, fishing, the beach and football, particularly the Florida Gators and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He loved his family with great passion.
Mike passed away on January 8, 2024 after struggling for several years with multiple health issues.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie and seven children: Christopher, Rebecca, Amanda, Patricia, Heather, Daniel, and Michael Connor, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild, along with siblings Pete des Rosiers, Cyndi (Kim) Burtenshaw, and Duane (Teri) Shoemaker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Barbara Shoemaker.
Gravesides services are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 26 at the Monticello Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
