Nora Hurst Yoakam Black

Nora Hurst Yoakam Black, 85, passed away October 11, 2016 in St. George, UT.
Nora was born May 30, 1931 in Blanding, UT. She was the second of eleven children born to Delores and Nellie Wright Hurst.
She was raised in Blanding along with her five sisters Erma, Thelma, Mirna, Norma and Margaret and five brothers Elmer, William, Harold, Tom, and Sydney.
Nora graduated from San Juan High School in 1949. She served an LDS mission in the Alberta Canada Mission.
She married George Arthur Yoakam, Jr. They are the parents of seven children. She is grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, and one great-great-grandson.
Nora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She served in many organizations throughout her lifetime.
She was always willing to serve others. She especially enjoyed genealogy and working on family history.
She had a strong unwavering testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Nora was a devoted wife and homemaker. She loved to cook, garden, crochet and knit.
She was taught the art of quilting by her mother. She spent countless hours making beautiful quilts she shared with her family and friends.
She loved solving crossword puzzles and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
She is known for her hand-dipped chocolates, cinnamon rolls, and honey candy.
She is survived by daughters Ann and Teri; and sons Michael, Theran, Deric and Roy; and all her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Art, daughter Susan, her parents, sisters Thelma and Margaret, brother-in-law Keith Myers, and sisters-in-law Lea Hurst and Margie Hurst.
A Memorial Service was held Monday, October 17, 2016 at the South LDS Chapel in Blanding. Internment at the Blanding City Cemetery.
