Peggy Ann Palmer

July 27, 1946 ~ December 16, 2020

Peggy Ann Palmer was born to Scott “Bogh” and Dolores Gravelle Bayles in Blanding, UT on July 27, 1946. She was the fourth of nine children. She passed away December 16, 2020 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, UT with her two sons by her side.

As a young girl Mom loved to ride her horse “Punk,” go to the cabin on the mountain, herd cattle, and hunt with her family. She graduated from San Juan High School and then went on to further her education at the College of Southern Utah (SUU) in Cedar City, UT.

She later returned to Blanding and married Kenneth Vee Palmer in Las Vegas, NV on December 29, 1966. They were sealed in 2014 on their 48th anniversary in the St George Temple. Mom and Dad lived in several different places including Gallup, NM; Monticello; and Bluff before returning to Blanding to settle and begin their family.

She started her career with the State of Utah working at Job Service (Workforce Services) in Blanding, then later transferred to Kanab, UT in 1985 where she finished her career after 30 years.

Mom loved life and had an infectious laugh and could outwit the best. She enjoyed all things Scouting with her sons and could even beat the boys when it came to a Pinewood Derby.

She was very proud of her Chippewa heritage and had a love for all Native Americans. Peggy enjoyed making jewelry and was often seen wearing her newest creation.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Vee Palmer, of 50 years; her parents, Scott and Dolores Bayles; and siblings, Joselyn Johnson, Dwayne Bayles, Scott Bayles, and Dwight Bayles.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Melinda) Palmer and Brian (Melanie) Palmer; siblings Dorothy (Dale) Black, Jolly (Deb) Bayles, Mona Kay Bayles, and Georgia (Ed) Black; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews that she loved.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 22 in Blanding, UT. Interment took place in the Blanding City Cemetery. The link to view the funeral service can be found at utahvalleyfuneral.com under Peggy’s obituary.
