Rayma “Charlie” Percell

April 8, 1939 ~ December 13, 2009

Rayma “Charlie” Percell was born on April 8, 1939 in Rocky Ford, CO, the daughter of Tom and Helen Frances (Nichols) Barbee.

She passed away on Sunday, December 13 at Blue Mountain Hospital in Blanding, UT at the age of 70 after a short battle with pneumonia.

Rayma’s first few years were spent in Rocky Ford, where she started school at Washington Elementary. The family moved to the Western Slope in 1951 and Charlie then went on to attend school in Dolores, CO. She graduated in 1957 from Dolores High School.

Rayma loved to travel and did so in the later years. Her love of flowers and her pride in her home and lawn was evident.

Surviving Rayma are her husband, Galen Headley of Bluff, UT; daughter Diana Lynn Lohman and Tim Cummings of Cortez, CO; son Stanley Dean Percell of Moab, UT; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and her mother, Helen Barbee of Dolores.

Rayma also leaves behind her sister, Gayle Gardner and husband, Grady of Dolores; her brother, Robert Barbee of Dolores; her four step-children, Michael G. Headley and wife, Jackie of Weldona, CO, Lynn A. Golemboski and husband, Ed of Hillrose, CO, Daniel D. Headley, and Pamela Yearous and husband, Mike, all of Denver, CO; 17 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren, and two on the way.

Rayma is preceded in death by her father, Tom Barbee, in 1989; and by her older brother, James, in 1996.

Funeral services for Bluff resident Rayma “Charlie” Percell were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 18 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Interment followed at Arriola Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Ertel Funeral Home.
