Richard G. Lyman December 6, 1933 ~ September 29, 2022

Richard G. Lyman passed away on September 29, 2022 at the age of 88.
He was born in Blanding, UT on December 6, 1933 to Platte DeAlton and Edith Gee Lyman.
He married Mary Ann Whetten on August 29, 1956. Together they had four children: Lynda (Craig) Bassett, Lisa (Doug) Curley, Leslie (Steven) Nelson, and Kendall (Donna) Lyman.
He was a math and physics teacher at San Juan High School, and then received a Masters Degree in Computer Science and continued in that field the rest of his career.
Richard loved San Juan and was often found riding motorcycles, ATVs, and mountain bikes in the surrounding areas. He also loved farming and working the land.
Richard loved music and played the trumpet, banjo, guitar, and cello. He participated in bands and orchestras as long as his health allowed.
He spoke Navajo and Spanish and loved studying languages and literature.
His greatest treasure was his relationship with his four brothers (Scott, Brent, Jim) and his four children, eleven grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
Richard taught his family to always be happy for others’ achievements, to love and support one another, and to follow Jesus Christ.
Funeral services are from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 8 at the Suncrest Stake Center in Orem, UT, 90 North 600 West.
Visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, October 10 at the Blanding Stake Center, 100 West 800 North. Richard will be interred in the Blanding Cemetery.
