Robert G Busch

May 4, 1954 ~ March 9, 2015
Robert G. Busch Jr. passed away March 9, 2015 in Monticello, UT after battling both liver cancer and cirrhosis.
Robert was born May 4, 1954 to Robert Busch Sr. and Sondra Joann Cubelli Busch in Redwood City, CA. To those who knew him, he was referred to as Bob, Grandpa, friend, and of course, Dad and beloved husband.
Bob and his second wife, Shelly were married April 2, 2003 in Moab, UT. They moved from California to open a deli, as it had been a dream of Bob’s for a while. “Bob and Shelly’s Moab Deli” opened it door April 17, 2003. People praised their sandwiches saying that they had the best in Moab. However, they shut down in 2004 and Bob returned to the job he worked most of his life. Bob loved his job as a boilermaker, despite frequently working away from his home and family. He ended his 37-year career for local 549 in California in 2011.
Shortly after retiring, Bob and Shelly moved to Grand Junction, CO, purchased a home and lived there for two and a half years.
Despite enjoying their time there, they felt called to move to Monticello to be near daughter Michelle and grandchildren McKenna and Aiden.
Bob had a love of the outdoors, as was evident in his love for off-roading, the time he spent taking his grandchildren fishing, as well as other outdoor activities. Bob was a pet lover, with four dogs and three cats who stayed by his side and showed the kind of love only pets can.
He also had a deep love for his two daughters, Sarah and Amanda, who he had with first wife Lucy. He loved to care for Julie, Lucy’s daughter who she had before meeting Bob, like she was his own.
However, his love didn’t end there. Bob also took in Shelly’s children, Jason, Melissa, Michelle, and Trevor when they got married and treated them with the same love he gave his own children. They in turn loved him back and referred to him as “Dad”.
Bob played football in high school and enjoyed taking a dip in the pool.
His prowess as a swimmer was recognized as he won many ribbons and achieved some accomplishments for his school’s swim team. When he was younger, Bob would frequent his local beaches and ride the waves.
More than his other hobbies, his love for motorcycles and the enjoyment he found riding them endured over the years. In fact, Shelly said he was still riding them when they met in March of 2000.
Bob was not only a man of hard work, of the outdoors, and of family, but also of faith. He found God, or as some may put it, God found him in February 2014. That’s when he ‘gave his heart to God’ and those close to him saw a change in his life and heart.
Bob attended the First Baptist Church of Monticello, where he was a member and where he served his fellow Christians.
He is survived by his parents, wife Shelly Farabee Busch, daughters Julie Alejo Busch, Sarah Busch Becht, Amanda Busch Mullen, step daughters Melissa Ann Monroe, Michelle Trevizo, stepsons Jason and Trevor Bergshoeff, grandchild, McKenzie Grace Mullen and stepgrandkids Emily Nicole Bergshoeff, Ian Christopher Monroe, McKenna LaDawn Trevizo, Aiden Michael Trevizo, Sakara Aljeo, Kamani Aljeo, his brother Chris Busch and his dogs Sasha, Hannah, Scooter and Lacey and cats Ebony, Annabelle and Jasmine.
He is preceeded in death by his brother, William Frank Busch.
Bob will be dearly missed by all of the people who knew him. His grandchildren will miss having adventures with their Grandpa, his kids will miss him for his pulling on their ears and Shelly will truly miss her companion and dearest and best friend. She knows he is in God’s hands and that they will meet again.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Monticello on March 21, 2015. Interment at the Monticello Cemetery.
