Rufina Romero

August 15, 1945 ~ September 2, 2021

Rufina Romero, 76, of East Hartford, CT, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was born August 15, 1945 in Los Brazos, NM, daughter of the late Miguel and Lupita (Duran) Romero and had lived in Monticello, UT prior to moving to Connecticut 30 years ago.

Rufina was a Housekeeper at Brookdale Retirement Community for many years prior to her retirement. She adored her two grandchildren and enjoyed caring for them and sharing stories of them.

She was also an avid collector of everything Elvis Presley.  

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Rachel Romero of East Hartford and Esther Schwarm and husband Eric of Simsbury; her adoring grandchildren, Dezmond Melo of Somers and Everleigh Schwarm of Simsbury; her sister, Mary Griswold and husband George of Winsted; her brother, Mike Romero and wife Frances of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
