Sally Jane Blake St. Clair

May 1, 1942 ~ August 8, 2019

Sally Jane Blake St. Clair, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2019 in Austin, TX.

Sally is survived by her four sons Loran, Michael, David, and Gregory (Phillip); brothers Donald (Kesten), Lloyd (Olivia), and John;  sister Sue (Randy) Stanard; grandchildren Eric (Panya), Trevor, Serra, and Allison St. Clair; and four great-grandchildren.

Sally is preceded in death by parents Donald Verner “Chap” Blake and Janet Nielson Blake, husband Logan, daughter-in-law Letha, and grandson Devin.

She was born Sally Jane Blake on May 1, 1942 in Monticello UT.  She always spoke fondly of her childhood being raised in the mining camp at White Canyon, UT, now under the waters of Lake Powell.

She attended Wasatch Academy and later graduated from Monticello High School in 1960.

She married R. Logan St. Clair on Sept. 3, 1960.  They raised four sons, Loran, Michael, David, and Gregory.

After marrying Logan, they traveled extensively as part of his job searching for oil, as far away as New Zealand, having the four boys along the way.  They settled in Fredericksburg, TX once the boys started going to school.

In 1977, Sally and the family moved to Monticello UT where Logan worked in the Blake family mining business for a time and then returned to the search for oil in the Intermountain West, while she worked with her sister Sue at the local Montgomery Ward catalog outlet.

Once all the boys were out of the house, Sally and Logan lived in northeastern Arizona where they managed a business in Chinle, then the Wetherill Inn motel in Kayenta AZ.  They retired in 2004 and moved back to Logan’s hometown of Fredericksburg.

In her active years, Sally enjoyed playing tennis, hiking, camping, cookouts, watching wildlife and being a scout den mother.  She was an artist at heart and enjoyed painting and photography.  She also enjoyed card games, puzzles, as well as computer games.

Sally’s wishes were that no services be held.  Those who wish to do so, may honor her by making donations to their preferred charity.

The St. Clair family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. David’s South Austin and Brookdale Westlake for the special care that they have provided.
