Sampas Janhom April 12, 1952 ~ January 13, 2022

Sampas Janhom, owner of the Ja Roen Thai Restaurant in Monticello, passed away on January 13, 2022. He was born on April 12, 1952 in Roiet, northeast Thailand.
Sampas left Thailand for the United States in 2000 and spent the next 22 years in communities across the United States, beginning in New York and spending a year in Moab.
In August 2019, he moved to Monticello and opened the Ja Roen Thai Restaurant.
The restaurant was very popular in an isolated area far from Thailand. He loved life and referred to himself as the Thai Cowboy.
Sampas is survived by his wife Kloichai Kraja and son Kruth Janhom, of Monticello. He is also survived by a son, Supat Janhom, of Bangkok, Thailand.
