Scott Bradley Pehrson

August 19, 1979 ~ January 25, 2019
Scott Bradley Pehrson was born on August 19, 1979 in Provo, UT as the oldest son of Scott and Colleen Pehrson. He was taken from the loving arms of his family in a tragic snowmobiling incident on January 25, 2019 on the La Sal Mountains in southeastern Utah, when an avalanche descended upon him.
Scott spent much of his childhood in southern California. Following those years, his family moved to the Salt Lake Valley in 1993 where he attended Kearns High School.
In 1996, his father moved to Monticello, UT where Scott spent his senior year at Monticello High School. He excelled in basketball.
After high school, Scott served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, becoming a true disciple of the Savior.
Upon his return home he entered ITT Tech, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree with a focus in computer aided drafting. It was during these years that he dated and married LaShaye Randall, oldest daughter of Todd and Roxanne Randall. It was the best decision of his life.
Together they began a family. Their first child was a daughter, Shayla, followed by a son, Kaden.
In 2009, Scott had an opportunity to move his family from Utah Valley back to Monticello, where both his and LaShaye’s families still lived. There, two more sons were born into this special little family, Jake and then Tyson.
Scott had made the choice to move to Monticello to take on the job as the agency manager of the Farm Bureau Insurance office, inheriting a large number of clients who immediately became friends, as they were insured by that company.
Building on that number, he added to the circle of people who would come to think very highly of him as their friend and advisor.
In Monticello, Scott could pursue many avocations that involved the outdoors. He loved to ride ATVs, hunt, shoot, camp, fish, drive jeeps, and snowmobile, to name just a few. His family also participated in many of them.
He loved his three brothers: Dave, Matt, and Linc; and his sister, Katie. He also loved LaShaye’s family as his own: Todd and Roxanne and all LaShaye’s siblings: Rye, Casey, Cody, Kerri, and Randee and their families. A true rarity. He was loved deeply in return.
Scott is survived by his grandfathers, Vern Anthony and Clarence (Pudge) Pehrson; his parents, Scott and Colleen Pehrson; brothers, Dave (Jackie), Matt (Tara), Linc (Laikyn), and sister Katie; his wife, LaShaye and their four children, Shayla, Kaden, Jake, and Tyson. He is loved and will be missed by many other friends and extended family.
Scott’s physical stature was matched by his kindness, generosity, and love for everyone. In this time of grief there have been many sentiments shared; one by a friend, that if you didn’t like Scott Pehrson, there was something wrong with you. Another said he was the most Christ-like person she had ever met.
It has been said: “How can the dead be truly dead when they still live in the hearts of those who are left behind?” Scott Bradley Pehrson may be out of our sight but he will never be forgotten by those he left behind.

Card of thanks
The families of Scott and LaShaye Pehrson, Scott and Colleen Pehrson, and Todd and Roxanne Randall would like to take the opportunity to recognize everyone for their many kindnesses during this time of tragedy in our families.
The outpouring of love and support has amazed us all. The food was incredible and the various other acts of selflessness lessened our burden in so many ways! Your individual efforts were beyond appreciated and words cannot fully express the gratitude in our hearts.
The visits and sharing of common experiences strengthened our spirits and the bonds we have with so many of you.
We were reminded that there have been so many of you who have suffered in the same manner, and we felt their heartbreak as they tried to lift us from ours. We also appreciate the innumerable cards and letters – many delivered from so far away.
We would like to take a moment to extend a very heartfelt thank you to those who assisted search and rescue efforts those two days on the mountain. That incredible act will forever remind us of what a great place this is and what exceptional people call this place home.
Additionally, we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize Danny Palmer and the San Juan Mortuary for taking special care of Scott and his family. The funeral was a beautiful tribute to the greatness of Scott Bradley Pehrson.
Until we meet again, Scott. We will love you forever.
With gratitude,
The Pehrsons and Randalls
