Sylvia Jorgensen Chamberlain

Sylvia Jorgensen Chamberlain was born September 2, 1912 at Orderville, UT. She was born the fifth child of Joseph Ira and Eli nor Angelina Jorgensen.
She died January 28, 2011 in Blanding, UT surrounded by family and loved ones.
Sylvia grew up in Orderville; she graduated from Valley High School. She attended Dixie College in St. George.
On December 5, 1934 she married Isaac Cornell Chamberlain in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Eight children were born to this union, including Lee Cornell (Mary Joe Combs), Juanita Marie (Lynn James Esplin), Corine (Alton Maurice Pugh), Isaac Joseph (Lou Nell Pugh), Sammy Reed (Linda Powell), Roger J (Caroleen Christiansen), Steven Michael (Lorraine Parks), and Mary Ann (Sam Pugh).
The Chamberlains enjoyed having several Navajo students live with them. Evalina Smith lived with them for nine years.
Cornell and Sylvia served an LDS mission in Tuba City, AZ. Sylvia served for over 80 years in the church in many different capacities. She loved her pioneer heritage and was happy to be a member of the DUP in the Orderville camp.
Cornell and Sylvia raised their children in Long Valley and loved it as their home. After their mission in Tuba City they moved to Blanding, UT, where they lived for ten years, enjoying that part of the country and the good people there.
They moved home to Lydia’s Canyon in 1984 and then to Glendale. Cornell passed away in 1998. The last two years Sylvia has resided in Blanding with Ike and Lou Nell Chamberlain surrounded by many family members.
Cornell and Sylvia have 49 grand children, 173 great grand children and seven great great grand children. The Chamberlain’s family is their greatest treasure.
A viewing will be held at the San Juan Mortuary in Blanding, Thursday, February 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services are Saturday February 5 at 2 p.m. in the Glendale Ward chapel, with a viewing at 1 p.m. Interment is at the Glendale Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
