Thomas M. Nielson

Thomas M. Nielson passed away October 6, 2014 at his home in Tucson, AZ. He was born July 20, 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was raised in San Juan County, UT by his parents, Milton C. and Estella M. Nielson.
Tom joined the Air Force at age 17 and served in Korea during the war.
He married Aleene Black July 5, 1955 and together they raised five children. They settled in Moab where they lived for 30 years.
Tom had a varied career including sales, the forest service, mining, and publishing. His time as a sales representative for Rexall Drugs took him all over western Colorado and northwestern New Mexico. He also served as president of Minerals West.
After moving to Tucson, Tom began corresponding regularly with many other Korean War veterans and enjoyed sharing memories of that time.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years; his five children Johanna Bliss of Tucson, AZ; Deanna Nielson (Richard Beebe) of Iowa City, IA; Eri ka Nielson (Mickey Goldstyn) of Oxnard, CA; Ken Nielson (Jacque) of Spanish Fork, UT; and Edward Nielson of Thousand Oaks, CA; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
