Vernon Lee Trask

Vernon Lee Trask passed away unexpectedly at his Monticello, UT home, Sunday, September 14, 2014.
Vernon was born to Vernon R. and Evelyn D. Trask January 28, 1941 in Milford, UT. Vernon grew up in Salt Lake City, UT where he graduated from Highland High School and Westminster College.
He volunteered two years in India VII with the Peace Corps and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era, where he was trained as a hospital laboratory technician.
He married his wife, Barbara, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City. They moved to Monticello, UT in 1970 where he worked at San Juan Hospital as an ASCP registered medical technologist for 26 years, many of these years as the only technologist on call 24/7.
He later worked five years at the University of Utah ARUP stat laboratory.
Vernon’s passion in work was his farm and ranch located outside of Monticello. He also enjoyed selling horse feed, bird watching, reading books, golf, fly-fishing, deer hunting and working with his two sons.
He relaxed by watching the Chicago Cubs, eating Chinese food and coffee ice cream.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Christopher Lee Trask.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; his youngest son, Carter Wayne (Stacy) Trask; granddaughters, Natalie Sienna and Carissa Ann; and his brother, Larry.
Vernon was a quiet, kindhearted and patient man. He worked hard to provide for his family and desired honesty and fairness in all his dealings.
He will be greatly missed, always remembered and live on through his work and family.
Vernon enjoyed his Monticello and Navajo friends of Kayenta and Chinle.
His family would like to thank them for their many kindnesses to him over the years.
Private family services are to be held at a later date when his ashes and those of his son, Christopher, will be scattered at the farm.
