Yvonna Pearl Hoggard June 8, 1935 ~ July 23, 2023

Yvonna Pearl Hoggard was born on June 8, 1935, her dad’s 25th birthday. She was born to Tulley and Laveda Rhodes Harvey.  
She is preceeded in death by her parents, sister Nada and son Karl Rex.  
She is survived by her siblings LaRae Black, Ronald Harvey, Margarette Argyle and Dorothy Burns, her children Val, Shirley, Elaine and Tracy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Yvonna always felt she had the ideal life growing up.  They were poor, but she never knew it.
Yvonna’s first job was working at Palmer’s Drug Store at the confectionary counter where she made sodas, malts, shakes, floats, and all kinds of drinks.  She made $1 an hour.
Yvonna met Junior Hoggard while working there. They married December 4, 1952.
Yvonna was First Attendant in a Rodeo when she was 17.
Over the years, Yvonna worked at Wood’s Department Store as a clerk and later she worked at Midland Telephone as a telephone operator.
She worked as a bookkeeper at the Junior High School in Blanding.  She helped Junior run his business over the years.  She also worked as a travel agent for several years.  She was a woman of many hats.
Yvonna made sure that her children never went without. In 1967, Yvonna was able to get the last four credits she needed to graduate from High School and obtain her High School diploma. 
Yvonna joined a bowling team in Blanding.  They had to drive to Monticello in order to bowl, but she loved it and excelled as her team took state.
Yvonna was a very talented lady.  She crocheted Afghans, doilies, and pillow cases.  She sewed and made most of her daughter’s clothes growing up.  She took up quilting and made many beautiful quilts.  
She kept herself busy learning new talents.  She took classes learning Three Dimension Paper Tole Pictures.  She was able to sell several of those art pieces.  She learned how to paint and enjoyed that talent.
The family did a lot of camping around places that Junior worked so the children could spend time with their dad.   
Yvonna would always make sure that trips the family took were very memorable trips.  
Yvonna moved to Arizona in 1980.  She met and married Jan Vigil in October, 1981.    
Yvonna received her certificate as a Travel Agent there in Arizona.  She worked for Morgan Drive Away Incorporated, then Easy Travel Incorporated and then moved on to work for McDonnell Douglas Travel Company for several years.  
She loved traveling and was able to travel to Hong Kong, and Seoul Korea in 1985.  In 1986, she went to Rome, Italy.  She was able to go on several cruises.
Yvonna moved to St. George around 2008, first living on her own then with Tracy and Russell, then into an assisted living facility The Haven, where she made many good friends with staff and residents.
She returned home on Sunday, July 23, 2023, to reunite with other family members that went on before her.
