Yvonne Fuller Walker

April 23, 1937 ~ May 23, 2021

Yvonne Fuller Walker passed away on May 23, 2021 at the age of 84. She was born to Lewis Cornelius Fuller and Della Marie Fox in Monticello, UT. She was the youngest of six children.

At the age of ten, she got to go with her dad to Price to pick up a brand new 1947 Ford pickup!

When Vonnie was in school she worked part time as a waitress. Her father would stop by on her break, and they would sit in his truck and listen to baseball on the radio.

She attended school in Monticello and often went by the name of Della, after her mother, or the nickname of Stub, given to her because of her short stature. She enjoyed being a cheerleader at Monticello High.

On June 2, 1954 she married Wesley Glenn Hoggard. To that union was born three children, Wesley Dale, David Glenn, and Jeana Yvonne.

On June 5, 1965 Vonnie married Wyer Dale (Barney) Walker. He brought to this union, Kerri Jean, Monti Dale, and Debbi Annette. This started the family’s mantra “In the beginning it was yours and mine, together we made ours.”

Over the years she worked at various jobs, including as a switchboard operator for the phone company.

When she married Barney, Vonnie and the kids joined him in Shonto, AZ where they ran the Shonto Trading Post together. For several years she managed the U.S. Post Office which was located inside the store.

When they moved to Eastland, she found herself back in retail, working at the Monticello Mercantile.

Vonnie enjoyed canning. She shared her love of canning with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Yvonne enjoyed a tidy yard and a clean house. She was a hard worker, but she knew how to have fun too! She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and playing board games and cards.

After she moved to Bluff, she met Jackie Gruette who would quickly become her best friend and guardian angel. They attended the temple, worked on family history, canned various foods, made endless crafts, and served others in their community.

One of Vonnie’s happiest times would be spent on the mountain with Jackie and Gene riding her side-by-side and enjoying the beauties of nature. As Vonnie’s health failed, Jackie became not only her best friend but her caregiver.

Vonnie’s true love of her life were her children and grandchildren and Cocker Spaniel, Missy. She could read her children well and always knew when something was wrong.

She loved unconditionally, disciplined when needed, and always had a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. Her legacy is one of love!

She is survived by her children, Kerri (Dan) Cupp, Monti (Nannette) Walker, Dale Hoggard, David (Trina) Hoggard, Jeana (Cecil) Place; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and Sister Sherry Behunin.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband, Barney; parents; sisters Jean, Lois, LaRee; brother Dale; daughter Debbi; grandchildren Michael, Ann, Crystal; and nephew Michael Miller.
