Second printing for 101 Visitor Guide

For the first time ever, a generous grant from San Juan County Visitor Services will enable a second printing of 101 Ways to Experience San Juan County.
A new wave of the popular visitor guides will be available at local visitor centers, motels, restaurants and businesses in coming days.
101 Ways is a joint project between the San Juan Chamber of Commerce and San Juan Record. The annual publication features the incredible array of things that visitors and residents alike can experience in San Juan County.
“This grant will allow us to better meet the demand for the visitor guide,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bayley Hedglin.
“We have more than doubled the number of guides over the past six years and we still run out every fall. This will allow us to reach that many more people.”

“We have been careful with the first printing,” said San Juan Record Editor Bill Boyle. “We had to ration them until now, but should have plenty for use now.”
The grant is one of 15 projects to be funded by the Visitor Services Advisory Board. The grants total nearly $50,000 and were awarded to a variety of organizations.
Funding for the grant program comes from Transient Room Tax (TRT) revenue collected from visitors to the county.
Projects to receive funding are primarily in the Blanding, Monticello, and Bluff areas.
Projects receiving funds in Bluff include the Bluff Arts Festival and four projects by the Business Owners of Bluff (BOB).
They are search engine optimization, website redesign, digital advertising, and the Bluff Balloon Festival.
Projects in Blanding to receive funding include a new billboard for the Dinosaur Museum, the Fifth of July event, and five projects for the City of Blanding, including website, social media, online ads, and Four Corners and Bears Ears campaigns.
Monticello area projects include a Wayside Tourist Map and the Canyon Country Discovery Center.
The total value of the projects, which received $50,000 in funding from the county, is nearly $200,000.
