22 in Enduro race series

Bike racers from across the Four Corners states participated in an epic two-day, three-stage race on the Abajo Mountains on August 4 and 5.
The Fourth Annaul Blue Mountain Enduro, aka Abajo Enduro, drew 22 male and female riders from northern Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. 
Riders started the race off on Friday, August 4 with an afternoon stage on the Shay Ridge trail. Dry trail conditions allowed for some wicked fast times, with the first place male flying through the five miles in 11 minutes and 33 seconds. 
On day two of the race, Saturday, August 5, racers completed stages 2 and 3, the Robertsons Pasture and Spring Creek trails. Due to heavy rain storms from the previous night, racers were delayed an hour to allow trails to dry up to perfect, tacky conditions.
The race ended with a BBQ, award ceremony, and prize drawing of awesome bike swag at the Monticello City ball field pavilion. Winners were awarded custom bike lever trophies by local artisan Scott Mitchell, in addition to a cash prize.
First place in the men’s category is Chad Cheeney of Durango, CO. Second place is Gino Pastore and third place is Tracy Michaud.
First place in the women’s category is Ana James of Telluride, CO and second place is Anna Sprout.
Special recognition was made to Dustin Carlson and Dusty Ott, who both raced on fat bikes, and to the race’s first junior rider, Simon Donnaway. Simon is a soon-to-be high school sophomore and took fifth place overall in the race.
