Penny tax

Blanding businessman Shelby Seely brought in $800 in pennies to pay the remainder of his property tax assessment. A conflict over Seely’s property values has yet to be resolved between the Board of Equalization and the Assessors office, so Seely paid with pennies. “I’m in the coin counting business so I only think it is fair that they have to count coins too,” said Seely.  The weight of the pennies necessitated several trips from the truck to the county offices.
