Telecom tower proposed near La Sal Jct to improve cellular service

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a proposed telecommunications facility located on Black Ridge in San Juan County, approximately 10 miles south of Moab.
The 15-day public scoping period lasts through May 8, 2025. The BLM will hold an in-person public meeting on April 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moab Field Office, to present an overview of the proposed project, answer questions and provide an opportunity for the public to submit written comments.
The proposed facility would consist of a 250-foot lattice tower and a building to house related infrastructure, as well as an access road leading to the site.
The facility would provide for current and future communications needs that cannot be accommodated within existing infrastructure.
The proposed facility would provide Verizon Wireless telecommunications and improved emergency services along State Route 191 and the surrounding areas.
“We would appreciate feedback on site-specific effects of the proposal, especially concerning visual resources.
“The community plays an important role in the planning process, and information submitted during the scoping period will help inform the BLM’s decision. We want to hear from you,” said Moab Field Manager Dave Pals.
We encourage the public to attend the meeting. For those unable to attend the meeting, scoping comments can be submitted to the project ePlanning website or by the submitting comments by mail by May 8:
