Run for the Fallen to visit area

The Run for the Fallen, an event meant to honor American service members who have been killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom, will pass through San Juan County in the days leading up to Independence Day.

Run for the Fallen is a collective of runners whose mission is to run one mile for every American service member killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The run began on the West Coast on June 14 and arrives in Bluff the night of June 30. On July 1, the racers will pass through Blanding and Monticello on Highway 191 before heading east to the Colorado borer on Highway 491. For more information, visit http://info.runforthefallen.org

Two servicemen from San Juan County, Quinn Keith and Nathan Winder, have paid the ultimate price for serving their country. Holly Walker, coordinator of the Utah National Guard Assistance Center in Blanding, is coordinating local support for the run.
