88 pounds of fentanyl pills recovered in bust
San Juan County’s Major Crimes and Drug Task Force unit had a major haul taking drugs worth an estimated $1.2 million off the street.
San Juan County Sheriff’s office reports in the early morning hours of August 2 a traffic stop was conducted for a registration violation. Local K-9 drug sniffing dog Nyx and her handler assisted in the stop and conduced a free air sniff on the vehicle with Nyx alerting to the odor of narcotics. A search was done on the vehicle resulting in 88 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills (about 240,000 pills) and five kilograms of suspected heroin were seized during the search. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to San Juan County Jail.
