Appeal filed on Greyeyes residency

Attorneys representing Blanding resident Kelly Laws have filed a notice of appeal of the January 29 ruling by Seventh District Judge Don Torgerson.
Judge Torgerson ruled that San Juan County Commissioner Willie Grayeyes is a resident of the county and the State of Utah.
Laws filed the suit, arguing that Grayeyes was not a resident.
The appeal was filed to the Utah State Supreme Court. An appeal will focus on the process used by Judge Torgerson in making his decision.
In a related matter, attorneys for Grayeyes have submitted their list of fees associated with the legal hearing. The fees, which the court ordered to be paid to the prevailing party, total more than $271,000.
