Jamie Harvey ~ San Juan County Commissioner District # 3

Ya’ At’ee’h (Greetings), I am Jamie Harvey from Montezuma Creek, Utah. I am Dine’ (Navajo) and I speak, read, write and understand Dine’ Bizaa’d. I am Txlaa’sh chii’ ‘ih (Red Bottom is my Maternal Clan) born for Ta’h Ch’ii’h ni’h (Red Streak running into water is my Paternal Clan, of the Yeii’ designation). My Maternal grandfathers are Kii’ Y’aa A’aani (Towering house Clan) and My Paternal Grandfathers are Kl’iizh ‘ii Xl’aani (Manygoats Clan).

I am seeking re-election for a Second Term to continue serving as San Juan County Commissioner District # 3. My employment background is centered in social work and includes helping individuals access professional support to overcome substance abuse and personal mental health challenges, strengthening parents to build resiliency and help families gain stability. I know local partnerships are important to create because the hard work I have encountered cannot be done alone. It requires connection with local community programs, partnerships with State, Tribal and Federal programs to ensure collaborative resources help strengthen the successful outcomes of families and individuals.

I have been a team player and as a re-elected commissioner, we will continue to remain a team of leaders who work together to ensure the progress of all San Juan County residents. I have witnessed and met wonderful people who care very much for one another and have a common goal to live, work, thrive and reside in San Juan County. We achieve progress when we work together to address issues and concerns as they arise. All activities, decisions and actions for the County must be done with clarity and input from the citizens of this county.

A voter can be confident in supporting my re-election because I have always been working in the community. I served from 2000 to 2008 as an elected Secretary/Treasurer for the Aneth Chapter. I served as the Vice Chairman of the Navajo Utah Commission (NUC) in 2004 and remained on the NUC until 2008.

I served on the Utah Navajo Health Systems, Inc. Health Board from 2001 to 2020 and served as UNHS Board Chairman from 2016 to 2018, participating in the negotiation of Contract Health funding with Indian Health Services where, with the board, we secured funding to construct new health facilities in Montezuma Creek and Blanding, Utah.

I have been currently serving on the Utah Navajo Trust Fund, Dineh Advisory Committee, since 2015 for the Aneth Chapter Tribal community. I will be completing my first term as San Juan County Commissioner, from January 2002 to December 31, 2026.

I respectfully ask for your support to allow me to return as county commissioner for a second term.
