Republican Party Convention is April 10
The San Juan County Republican Party is holding its organizing convention on Thursday, April 10 at the Monticello Library.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the meeting starts at 7. All registered Republicans may attend and all county delegates may vote.
Every two years the Republican Party elects new officers including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Additional roles are also open, including Lincoln Day Dinner Coordinator, Campaign Coordinator and Media Coordinator.
Roles of these officers will be discussed in-depth. The party’s key roles include holding election year precinct caucuses, assisting Republican candidates in general election races, and educating citizens about the principles contained in the Republican Party Platform. You must be a registered Republican to nominate someone or run for a particular position. Following nominations, candidates will have the opportunity to speak, after which county delegates will vote and elect new officers who will hold their positions for two years.
Former District 69 State Representative and gubernatorial candidate Phil Lyman will be the featured speaker.
The San Juan County Republican Party encourages all committed Republicans to step up. The future of San Juan County depends on a strong and engaged conservative Republican base.
